Houston Texans - Young team with potential

Indianapolis Colts - Recent Superbowl champions with talent to repeat

It looks like Reliant Stadium will be open and ready to host its home team of The Houston Texans against the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 5th!  Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a non-rainy day, because the roof of Reliant Stadium looks like it will have to remain pulled open in its convertible state for the rest of the season.  The Stadium itself is ready, but the roof still has huge panels needing repair.  For those of you attending the game, this is a great way to keep your shades on inside and not look like the nerd version of the FBI.  And to those players who have grown accustomed to the constant indoor temperature and lack of weather concerns, time to toughen up boys - or as we say down here in Houston “if you don’t like the weather - wait 5 minutes - and it will probably change!!

....and still so humble!!

....and still so humble!!

Tony Romo - Superstar Dallas Cowboy Quarterback

With all of the press surrounding Tony Romo, I could make this website entirely about him!  But then who would write about those little known players like Favre and Brady??  Yes, I am so cool with the talk now that I can mention last names only.

Sunday’s game with the Cowboys facing Green Bay was entertaining to say the least.  Aaron Rodgers playing off against Tony Romo!  There were other players involved of course, but I’m just giving you what I noticed first! Tony and his ‘boys prevailed.

Some of us may have heard about Romo’s southern hospitality when he offered roadside assistance to a couple with a flat tire.  If you didn’t, this is what happened.  After his week one win, he was driving down a Texas highway and noticed a couple having problems changing a tire.  He stopped to help, and once the couple realized who he was, the wife gave him a big hug and her husband only asked that he WOULDN’T tell him how his game went.  He had it TIVO’d and was on his way home to watch it!

Not only is he better than AAA, but he also prays every night with his GF Jessica Simpson, attends church weekly, and keeps his dimples showing during all of it.  He shows full confidence on the field and has led the Cowboys to an impressive 3 wins in 3 weeks. Superbowl perhaps? We shall see!

Next week, he will probably lead Habitat for Humanity while competing in the amazing race and adopting abandoned puppies. But for now, he’s keeping Cowboys fans proud!

Brian Westbrook - Philadelphia Eagles - Very Talented Superstar Running back

Jason Taylor - Washington Redskins - Pro Bowl Defensive player just acquired from Miami Dolphins this season

Willie Parker - Speedy Running Back - Pittsburgh Steelers

Marques Colston - Promising Receiver - New Orleans Saints

Jeremy Shockey - Vocal Tight End - Won Superbowl with Giants - First year with the New Orleans Saints

Oh, this is not good.  It seems as if injuries are the new little black dress of football…everybody has one!  It is so sad to see these handsome men helped off the field only to guess when they may return. It’s Okay though because I will take on the difficult task of finding new exciting talent to keep you watching the games!  Unfortunately, superstars Tom Brady, Jason Taylor, Brian Westbrook, Willie Parker, Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey (which both play for the same team - that sucks for the Saint’s and their fans) are all sitting out at the moment.  Thankfully, they are recovering well and working hard to get their specific injuries taken care of…only the best of the best work on these guys.  Now, if you or someone you know has these guys on their Fantasy team, show some sympathy.  Because they will probably not be happy, and are desperate for trades right now.  The good news is, the NFL has no shortage of strong, good looking, capable replacements!

A performance to smile about!!

A performance to smile about!!

Ronnie Brown - Miami Dolphin’s Running Back - Young back with great promise!

WOW!!  FIVE TOUCHDOWNS IN ONE GAME!  Ronnie Brown was on fire..or at least running like he was.  He ran the ball into the end zone 4 times and as if that wasn’t enough to impress you, he also played like a  quarterback for one play and threw a touchdown!

If you were fortunate enough to watch the Miami Dolphins game against the New England Patriots Sunday, you might know what I’m talking about.  Ronnie Brown’s amazing performance led his team to a 38-13 win over the New England Patriots.  Miami not only surprised the Patriots but they also put a stop to New England’s 21 consecutive regular season victories!  They tried some different plays, attempting to keep the Patriots confused…and it worked.  Now, I am still partial to New England, only for the reason that Tom Brady might be watching from the sidelines (without a helmet on… wink wink)..and I might catch a glimpse… but, this Ronnie guy is making headlines and I have to admit, it made me GOOGLE him!  Apparently, he was this good last year, but was unable to finish out the season due to injury, which seems to be an NFL trend this year.  Hopefully Ronnie can have a successful, impressive and injury free season.  Mr. Brown just made my players to watch list!

Hurricane Ike has come and gone, but the damage left behind will take some time to repair.  Reliant Stadium is home to the Houston Texans and at this time is still missing quite a few roof panels.  Plans are to hopefully get it ready by the next home game of October 5th against the Colts.  If not, they are looking at other stadiums, mainly Rice Stadium of The Rice University Owls.  Players are back at practice, and like those of us in Houston and Galveston, are doing their best to regain some normalcy in their lives.  Some of us were only affected by power and water outages, while others have lost their homes and businesses.  Good luck to everyone involved.

Playing football in the rain is fun but...

Playing football in the rain is fun but...

The Houston Texans game against the Baltimore Ravens has been rescheduled from Sunday, Sept. 14th to Monday Sept. 15th due to Category 3 hurricane IKE heading straight towards Houston and it’s surrounding areas early Saturday morning.  Winds are expected to reach 105 MPH in some area’s.  Mandatory evacuations for the coastal areas are in effect and supplies at stores are running low.  The Texans were excused from Friday’s practice as were most of Houston’s businesses to be with their families and secure their homes.  Good luck to everyone in IKE’s path.  I will be weathering the storm here as well!

Shawn Merriman - San Diego Chargers - Dominant linebacker.

Superstar San Diego Charger linebacker Shawn Merriman decided Tuesday to have knee surgery this week in Florida.  He will be out for the season, but should be back to his full stallion of manly health in time for mini camp next May!  This is great news considering he was tempted to play a full season on two torn ligaments which could have ended his young career.  He is declining to talk to the media stating only that he wants a break from the attention.  Good luck to Shawn, his recovery and his Charger Team!

  Silly, Goofy, Cute!!

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is in a new commercial for Pepsi’s latest drink.  It’s lemon flavored Pepsi…I remember the days of squeezing lime juice in a Diet Coke to make me feel like I wasn’t really on a diet, and instead like I was drinking something fun and fizzy and on vacation somewhere other than where I was really drinking that Diet Coke.  Let’s hope this drink tastes better than that did!  And makes you rich!  And gorgeous!  Oh…right..it’s just a drink..but it IS making Tony rich and some say gorgeous too…with a million and some change involved in the endorsement deal.

No, I’m not reporting the weather… just the fact that Hotness himself, Tom Brady, will be out for the entire season due to surgery on his knee that was injured in the first game of the season. If you haven’t heard by now the New England Patriots are going to have to try and make it back to the Super Bowl without their star quarterback. Matt Cassel will take his place as Qb but hasn’t started a game since high school - hopefully its like riding a bike!  Can we say Aaron Rodgers Jr.

Damn it - where is Mr. Miyagi when you need him!
